How to Choose a Walking Cane Handle

How to Choose a Walking Cane Handle

Read the article below, or watch the video   If you’re looking to purchase a cane, picking out the type of handle can be a big decision. We have over 23 years of experience helping customers. We are proud to offer a vast selection of different types of walking canes for our customers, and we’re going to demonstrate the handles, so you can make the best decision. When selecting the best walking canes for seniors, it's important to consider features that enhance stability and comfort. We have included canes with adjustable heights and ergonomic grips to suit various needs. Our aim is to ensure that each senior finds a cane that provides the support and confidence they require while walking. Derby Our first and most popular type of handle is called a Derby handle. These types of handles are ergonomically designed, and they help comfortably balance the weight of the user over the shaft. The unique hook design allows the user to hang the cane off a table or arm, to free up the hands.   Fritz Our second handle type is Fritz, designed for comfort and easing the pressure from the user’s hand. This type of handle is popular among customers who suffer from arthritis. The open ended design allows the user to hold the cane comfortably, without causing pain in the fingers and hands.   Knob The third type of handle is called a Knob handle. These cane handles are designed for comfort, for the user’s hand. The sophisticated look of knob handles are great for those who prefer stability, by grasping from the palm of the hand.   Animal Our fourth type of handle is the Animal cane handle. This is great for cane collectors, as each animal is unique. We always keep comfort in mind when designing these canes. These canes are perfect for that special occasion or gathering.   Ergonomic Number five on our list is the Ergonomic handle. These handles were made for customers who suffer from arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, or other similar conditions. Ergonomic handles contour to the user’s right or left hand, making them very comfortable to hold in your hand. You need to specify which hand you will need, when ordering these canes.   Palm Grip Palm Grip handles are the sixth type we have for canes. Similar to ergonomic handles, these are made for the left or right hand. These are meant to naturally contour to the user's palm. Our customers are often amazed how the palm grip handle conforms to the contour shape of their palm.   Offset The seventh type of cane handle is the Offset handle. Users benefit from the soft grip rubber handle that allows for a more comfortable experience. These handles are designed to evenly distribute the user’s weight along the shaft, down to the rubber tip. Keep in mind that we offer Quad Canes to be convertible, so that when you are ready, you can use it as an offset cane and remove the quad base.   Tourist Number eight on our list is the Tourist handle. This classic style has been a favorite among cane users for centuries. Designed after the shepherd’s crook, the unique hook design can be rested on the arm when not in use, much like the derby handle.     Hammock Our ninth and final cane handle on the list is the Hammock handle. This handle is made for walking, and you can unfold the handle for comfortable seating wherever you are! This is ideal for waiting in line or when you’re attending an outdoor event.   DISCLAIMER While we have over two decades of experience helping people around the world with walking canes, we always recommend consulting with your healthcare provider on deciding which handle type works best for you.   Watch the Video Below:

How to Cut Your Walking Cane Locally

How to Cut Your Walking Cane Locally

Read the article below, or watch the video When you need to cut your cane, most of the time you would think to visit a cane store or hire someone to do it for you. In some cases, you might discover that walking canes for seniors in need can be adjusted at home with the right tools. By following simple instructions, you can customize the height of your cane for better comfort and support. Additionally, exploring online resources can provide valuable information on various styles and types of canes suited for different needs. The first step is to visit your local home improvement store. You can find stores that cut wood by a quick search online, and locate the store that’s nearest to you. Make sure the store cuts lumber and moulding. Bring a tape measure with you, or be sure to ask for one at the store. Once you arrive at your local home improvement store, locate the aisle with the moulding cutting center. Ask any of the employees, should you need assistance finding the aisle. Lay your cane flat on the moulding table, and use the tape measure to measure the length of the cane. Once you find the place on the cane that you’d like to cut, be sure to clearly mark the area on the cane. Mark around the entire cane, so you can get an even cut. Remove the rubber tip from the cane, by firmly twisting it to the left and pulling straight up, until the tip comes off. Lay your cane back on the moulding table, and position it, so it’s ready to be cut. Re-measure the cane twice, where you want to cut. After measuring, cut the cane one time. Never cut the cane at an angle. After you cut the cane, attach the rubber tip to the bottom, and make sure it’s on securely, before using the cane again. Watch the Video Below:

How Do I Remove the Tip from My Walking Cane?

How Do I Remove the Tip from My Walking Cane?

Read the article below, or watch the video The first step to remove the tip from your cane is to use a turning motion to twist and loosen, while holding the cane tip. Please note that the rubber tip is not glued onto the cane. If you’re having trouble removing the tip, we recommend using a hair dryer to heat the rubber material and make it softer, or use a heavy duty paper clip to break the suction between the tip and cane shaft, while being mindful not to scratch the shaft. Try placing the cane on the floor and using your feet to anchor the tip in place while you twist the cane back and forth and then pulling up will usually do the trick Durable walking canes for seniors are designed to provide support and stability. They come in various styles and materials to suit different needs and preferences. Choosing the right walking cane can enhance mobility and confidence, making daily activities easier.
