Black Steel Inserted Rubber Tips have a steel washer inserted inside the base of the tip. This helps with the durability of the rubber tip. This high quality tip is more durable than a standard rubber tip but weighs slightly more and is a little larger.

A tip for my Shillelagh
A received a blackthorns Shillelagh as a gift from County Wicklow Ireland. It had a brass wrap on the end. This is file for hiking, but I wanted to use it indoors or out. The brass was slippery on certain surfaces. So I needed a tip I could adapt for use. A couple wraps of tape and your tip works fine. I use a cane for walking normally.
