Once again Igor has provided the unique and beautiful with functional stability. Hand carved from oak in the Ukraine, each one is different and special. This one features a woman who appears to have risen from the sea! Figureheads for ships were long used for identification of ownership and protection starting in the 16th century. In a largely illiterate society it was an easy way of knowing the name of the vessel and in each carving there would be a mixture of religious beliefs and superstition that was believed to help with safe travels. Please note, due to the handmade nature of these canes, the standard length can vary slightly.
