France 440 Stainless Steel Square cut Blade for fencing - - Cane Length is 36 1/2 inches - Blade Length is 28 inches. This sword umbrella cane from Fayet of France is a cane and a high quality hand sewn umbrella. The square cut fencing blade is 440 stainless steel and is 28 inches in length. It is held in the cane shaft by a locking mechanism that only comes undone when the handle is pushed and turned. It is supplied with a rubber ferrule that can be put over the small rubber end tip. We apologize but this item can not be cut to size.
NOTE: Cannot ship to AR, CA, MA, PA, NY, Canada or Australia. Please check your local laws for public use of this item or importing through customs in your country. We are not responsible for items seized by customs and ordering this cane is at your own discretion. No refunds or replacements will be given if customs destroys item.

3 ways to find your cane length
1. Measure the cane user (most accurate) Tap to open
In walking shoes, stand upright with arms relaxed at your sides, and measure from the wrist crease to the floor. A second person reading the tape gives the best result.
If your measurement is exactly a whole or half inch (like 34" or 34½"), order that size. If it's in between (like 34¼"), round up to the next half inch (34½").
2. Measure a cane that already fits Tap to open
Measure from the lowest point on top of the handle to the bottom of the tip. Use your exact measurement if it's a whole or half inch. Otherwise, round up to the next half inch.
3. Estimate from your height Tap to open
Your cane length is about half your height. Example: 5'6" is 66 inches, so 33". It works for most people but isn't exact, so measure when your cane arrives.

Shortening it yourself
Most canes can be shortened at home. Remove the tip, cut the extra length off the bottom, and put the tip back on. Canes can be shortened but not lengthened. Don't cut umbrella, sword, or seat canes, or any cane marked not to be sized.

OK, I am very familiar with these own quite a few sword sticks of varying quality. I would have liked to have found an old Wilkinson sword cane. Or at least found one which was affordable, but antiques can run well into the thousands of dollars. And while this is pricey, it is pretty close to the type of cane I would have liked.
OK, the blade is more of a thrusting blade: "a squared skewer with a sharp point". In other words, it's a diamond shaped blade like a rapier, or epée. I would have preferred a sabre type blade. I want the ability to either slash or thrust. This is good for thrusting.
But defensive technique aside since that's very advanced. This definitely has the quality I wanted, as other reviews have pointed out. This is made in France and is very discrete for opening. It won't pop out unexpectedly and it also isn't obvious for how to open it with buttons.
Other than that, it definitely has the quality I was looking for. This is well worth the price if you want a quality stick which doesn't look obvious, or like a toy.
It's 94cm (37") in height and is comfortable for me at 178cm (5'10")
