Quick Sizing Guide

If this cane offers free sizing (look for the checkbox under "Add to Cart"), it's optional: choose your height, or skip it and your cane ships at its standard length.

Not sure? Order the standard length. Most canes can be shortened at home once you know the right size.

Cut canes can be exchanged, with a $15 restocking fee.

Adjustable canes set to your height, and fixed-length canes (like sword canes) can't be cut. Their fit is listed under Product Details.

3 ways to find your cane length
1. Measure the cane user (most accurate) Tap to open
Measuring from the wrist crease to the floor

In walking shoes, stand upright with arms relaxed at your sides, and measure from the wrist crease to the floor. A second person reading the tape gives the best result.

If your measurement is exactly a whole or half inch (like 34" or 34½"), order that size. If it's in between (like 34¼"), round up to the next half inch (34½").

2. Measure a cane that already fits Tap to open

Measure from the lowest point on top of the handle to the bottom of the tip. Use your exact measurement if it's a whole or half inch. Otherwise, round up to the next half inch.

3. Estimate from your height Tap to open

Your cane length is about half your height. Example: 5'6" is 66 inches, so 33". It works for most people but isn't exact, so measure when your cane arrives.

Shortening it yourself

Most canes can be shortened at home. Remove the tip, cut the extra length off the bottom, and put the tip back on. Canes can be shortened but not lengthened. Don't cut umbrella, sword, or seat canes, or any cane marked not to be sized.

    Lovely Cane

I ordered the full length cane as everyone is different. I have been “sized” by a PhD Physical Therapist in a professional setting. I understand the sizing criteria. I primarily use my cane to take the weight off my hips while I’m standing and I like a little extra length . Not much but I prefer to try the length first and size down if necessary. You can’t ever find a wood stretcher when you need one so it was easier to cut mine at home and get it just right.

My only minor gripe is the Label under the collar. I think it cheapens the look and the label or sticker on mine is crooked. That doesn’t help at all. Who would put a sticker on the pocket of a fine suit? It really looks cheap.

    OUTSTANDING!!!

Beautiful, exquisite, anatomical derby cane. The workmanship is world class. Big surprise, the overall weight of the cane. I never knew that Cocobolo wood was so dense and weighed more than any other wood type. Don’t let the weight of it deter you from getting one. Extremely well balanced and it maintains an easy momentum to use. I’m very impressed.

Elegant Cane that's a Joy to Use

This is a really classy looking cane from the cocobolo handle through the collar to the ebony shaft. The ebony is very dense and heavy, quite noticeable after using the flyweight carbon fiber cane. But the weight preserves the rhythm as it swings back and forth; I like that. I just wish the price had been less.
